Inco Confidential Token (cToken) App and SDK Now Live on Base Mainnet

Privacy has long been a blocker for public blockchains, keeping onchain financial applications from competing with traditional finance. Put simply: your friends and contacts can't see your bank balance or your spending, but move your financial life onchain, and that's exactly what everyone gets to see.

Today, Inco takes a major step toward fixing that with Confidential Token. Users can now shield their onchain balance and transactions with the cToken app, and developers can bring confidentiality to their own apps with the cToken SDK. The cToken app is live on Base mainnet, and developers can now deploy confidential tokens on Base mainnet with the SDK.

What Is a Confidential Token?

Confidential Token wraps any ERC-20 on Base into a confidential version of itself. Balances and transfer amounts are encrypted onchain — only the holder can read them — while the token keeps moving through the network like any other ERC-20.

Confidential Tokens are powered by Inco Lightning. They stay fully in the user's custody, work with conventional wallets and tools, and there's no new chain to bridge to.

The cToken App

For users, the fastest way to use Confidential Tokens is the cToken app. Connect your existing wallet, shield your balance, and send tokens confidentially — the amounts stay encrypted the whole way.

Build With Confidential Tokens: The SDK

Developers can add confidentiality to their app with the cToken SDK. Running npm install @inco/ctoken installs it, in three layers:

• Core client (@inco/ctoken) — raw APIs for shield, send, unshield, and balance reads. Works in the browser and in Node.
• React hooks (@inco/ctoken/react) — useDeposit, useConfidentialSend, useBalances, and more, to wire into your own UI.
• UI kit (@inco/ctoken/ui) — drop in a prebuilt widget that works seamlessly with your app.

The Widget: A Confidential Wallet in Your App

The widget is the part we're most excited about. One component from the UI kit gives your app a full confidential wallet: it renders a button that opens a popup — a modal on desktop, a sheet on mobile — where users shield, send, unshield, and check balances without ever leaving your app. It even inherits your app's theme. Confidential Token is built on Inco Lightning, Inco's confidentiality layer. Lightning is what lets amounts and balances stay encrypted onchain while transfers still settle on Base like any ERC-20.
